Citizen Observatory Workshop: Exploring Air and Mobility in the Turano Valley and Gerace

May 30

The upcoming workshop “Exploring Air and Mobility in the Turano Valley and Gerace”, organized by the GREENGAGE partner Borghi più belli d’Italia, will explore the complexities behind the data on air quality and mobility. The goal is to illuminate the impact of individual mobility habits on the local environment. The active involvement of citizens in evaluating these data is considered crucial for identifying strategic actions aimed at environmental improvement. Expertise of consortium experts in the field will be drawn upon to address these questions in a hybrid meeting format.

Through the use of the Citizen Observatory and Citizen Science approaches, supported by scientific data and satellite information, air quality and mobility in the pilot areas of the Turano Valley and the municipality of Gerace will be explored. The continued efforts of the Citizen’s Observatory, along with its data collection scheduled until October 2025, will be crucial for evaluating the present condition of the living environment and formulating strategies to improve sustainability and quality of life in the areas involved.

This initiative will serve as an example that could inspire other municipalities in Europe.
