BUas Cycling Lab: Bridging the Barriers of Biking Behaviour

BUas Cycling Lab Lunch Sessions, an event series created by the GREENGAGE partner BUas, is set to launch on December 5, 2023. This series of lunch sessions is dedicated to promoting the integration of bicycle use into people’s lives in every way possible. Together with the participants, the BUas team will tackle obstacles and motivations behind bicycle use and provide solutions or enhancements. Participants can anticipate gaining valuable insights on various aspects, including strategies for approaching bicycle commuting, acquiring essential skills for fixing common bike issues, and achieving a deeper understanding of their personal sentiments regarding biking or consideration of alternative modes of transportation.

Each session, lasting 1 hour, will consist of the following elements, accompanied by lunch:

• 20 minutes: Entertaining events around biking psychology (e.g., cycling simulator, an exploration of cycling stereotypes, practical trainings, solving maintenance problems)
• 20 minutes: Discussion on what you use the bike for and what could change your mind
• 10 minutes: Survey on main obstacles and topics for future sessions

Subsequent lunch sessions will take a proactive approach in addressing the existing obstacles, including consultations with a bike mechanic to provide hands-on assistance with maintenance challenges. By the end of these sessions, BUas team hopes to encourage participants to integrate cycling into their daily routines more frequently.
